The New Development Bank (NDB), founded by the BRICS countries, continued promoting its local-currency settlement strategy after Dilma Rousseff was re-elected as the bank's president. It has already provided renminbi financing for two infrastructure projects in Brazil and launched the first private project denominated in Indian rupees. The model of loans without political conditions offers developing countries an alternative to traditional multilateral institutions, gradually becoming a central force in the diversification of the global financial system.
